Synopsis

Yusaku, a medical student, accepts an offer to work at a clinic in his old stomping grounds. On the train he spies a beautiful young woman who turns out to be a patient at the clinic he’ll be working at. There he reconnects with old playmates and current patients as he helps various female characters through personal troubles – some more serious than others – with his own special touch.

The Long View

As trite as the synopsis sounds, Virgin Touch is a remarkably gentle and tender title in a genre dominated by crass, crude, and grossly exploitive content. This is a title free of the rape scenes, S&M content, tentacle monsters, excessive emphasis on bodily fluids, and other factors which often drag hentai title through the mud; what you have left is a story that, though paper-thin in premise, actually packs plausible characters that you can care about and sex scenes that just feel right. There’s even some good tragic drama and an ending that’s a bit of a surprise (but a welcome one) given the way things seem to be playing out towards the end of the second episode; make sure you watch through the end of the credits on the second episode or you’ll miss it.

The technical merits on Virgin Touch are pretty good. The designs of the female characters are appealing, distinctly varied, and not unrealistic in their proportions. The English dub is unconvincing (especially during the sex scenes), but the Japanese voice work solid and its actresses do a much more convincing job during the sex scenes. The musical scoring is composed of generic throwaway tunes.

And since this is a hentai title, the sex scenes must be discussed. There are four of them (two in each episode), each one featuring a different female character (Yusaki is a lucky guy!), so they never get boring. These are tender scenes which reflect love and caring and focus more on the spirit of the act than the mechanics of it, but they are no less titillating for it.

Virgin Touch is the only hentai title I have seen to date that I could actually recommend to a female viewer. It is a quality production that is well worth a look if the seamier side of hentai has got you down.
